Our Avid Symphony 4.0

We edit on Avid Symphony Systems. They kick butt, most people use them to finish, but we use them for rough cuts and online (for the few things you don't need a flame for). The Symphony edits in NTSC, Pal, 4 x 3 and 16 x 9 so you can see what your Hi-Def or 2k edit will look like. It also has an uncompressed video setting so your footage looks as good on the way out as it did on the way in. We have Hi-Def monitors in the suite also (X-Box looks great on it!). We also have real time Color Corrector boards that will make your dailies look great, and we can also do real time Ultimatte so blue screen offlines are a breeze. We have Digital Beta, Beta SP, 3/4, VHS, DVD, Dat, DV Cam, Mini DV and several CD and DVD burners. We now have a real time DVD burner so you can leave with a DVD in minutes. We can also have Rule deliver the myriad of Hi-Def formats that Carl is unwilling to purchase at the moment until the industry decides what the heck is going on. Basically - we got you covered. We have edited 2k spots for the big screen for VW (it won awards) and Hi-Def videos for Bose (it could win an award) so we know what we are doing.

Software

Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Boris Red (3D type and amazing filters), Final Cut Pro and tons of Media Cleaning stuff. One nice thing we do is play a cut live out of the Avid into Final Cut on a laptop and post spots on the Web from that machine. That allows us to keep editing and not tie up the Avid to make Quicktime Movies for the web. It is very elegant.

Files & Format

How we like graphics is hard to say - because the answer can vary for how the graphic is going to be used - so please call us and ask. We have G4's and smart people to make what we need so a Photoshop, Illustrator or Scanned Document raw will usually do the trick.

Camera

We have a Canon XL1 DV Camera you can use for pitches, man on the street stuff or to shoot your daughter's wedding and impress the in-laws. Soderberg swears he loves it in every Millimeter Magazine, but we don't personally know him. Carl likes it and has shot an award winning documentary with it.
